Field trip excitement

The girls were so excited to go on their very first field trip as preschoolers.  They were counting down the days until they got to go to the apple orchard.  Finally, the day arrived!!  I don't think they could get dressed fast enough!!

This afternoon, I was watching the clock and I knew exactly what time they were set to depart school for the orchard.  As the time approached, my excitement for them increased.  And as today wore on, I became incredibly anxious to pick them up from school to hear all about it...then my work phone rang.  The teacher, Miss Julie, called to tell me that Addi was stung by a bee.  Her first field trip and her first bee sting - all wrapped up into one day.  Poor girl.  The teacher assured me that she was in good hands as one of the chaperones was a registered nurse, so she took Addi to the bathroom right away and gave her some TLC.

When I picked the girls up, I was surprised by the fact that Addi said very little about the bee sting!!  The girls were overflowing with their excitement...mostly the fact that they got to ride a "big yellow bus!"  Addi told me that she didn't sit with anyone on the bus because she liked having a seat to herself.  Livi said that she shared a seat with one friend on the way to the orchard and sat with a different friend on their way back to school.  And that right there sounds exactly like my kids...Addi is my little independent child and Livi is my "share the love" child.

I think the apple orchard itself took second place to the fact that they were able to ride on a school bus.  In fact, I was asked several times already tonight if we can get rid of our van so that we can ride the city bus!!  Um, no kids, sorry.

School Kids

As of today, it's official.  I have school aged kids.  The girls were so, so, so excited for their first day.  They're in the afternoon preschool class which starts at 12:45pm, but they probably asked me at least a dozen times in the morning if it was "time to go to school yet."  They were so anxious that they couldn't sit still!  Finally the time came.  And when that happened...then they decided that they might be "too shy to go to school."

Anyway, they grabbed their backpacks, we loaded into the car and we were off!  Addi was a little bit more hesitant than Livi was.  Livi was pretty pumped up to meet new friends.  She immediately sat at the table in her classroom so I could take her picture and she even asked her teacher if she could take a picture with her!  On the other hand, Addi didn't want to sit at the table and when she finally did, she wouldn't smile.  When Livi was having her picture taken with her teacher, Addi didn't want to join...but once she saw Livi wasn't being shy, she finally jumped right in!

When I picked them up, they were full of smiles.  They asked right away when they get to go to school again.  I really, truly think that they are going to have a blast.

You can just see their giddiness in this picture!!

I didn't even realize it until I downloaded the pictures that they were holding hands.  They really are best friends.

End of camping 2012

We went on our last camping trip this weekend.  The girls had a blast, as always.  They did a little bit of swimming, played mini golf, made new friends, rode on a golf cart, played on the playground, made s'mores, skipped rocks and plenty more.  The weather was a bit erratic.  One day it was super, super hot.  The very next day we had to break out the long pants and jackets!  I know it's just a matter of time before they start hounding me about going on the "bus" again.  And I don't think they'll be impressed with my answer...when the snow comes...and then melts.

The girls played choo-choo train in the water with their new friend.

Emmi enjoyed her water time too!

Whenever the tongue comes out, you know she's focusing!!

We're still working on their overall golfing form!!

Big changes ahead!!

Let me start by saying this...

All three girls slept through the night last night!!  Say what?  Yes, it's true.  I think this might just be the first time ever.  Livi is never a problem.  She's a pretty gosh darn good sleeper.  Not the best bed partner in the world though - the little girl is ALL over the place.  But she reliably sleeps through the night.  However, Addi and Emmi are not entirely fond of the thing we call sleep.  Addi usually comes into my room around 2 in the morning proclaiming that she's not tired.  And Emmi gets up a couple times a night for something to drink.  But last night they all coordinated their efforts!!

So in less than two weeks, the big girls will be starting preschool.  That is so incredibly unreal to me.  It doesn't seem that long ago that I was laying on the couch, 24 hours a day on strict bedrest, trying to make sure that they didn't make an early arrival.  And now they're off to school.

In preparation of starting school, I had them write their names the other day.  I was just curious to see how they would do.  They did amazing!!  Now I'm really curious to see what it will look like at the end of their very first year of school.  But here is their impressive work...
